Dear Sisters and Brothers,
One of the highlights of the year for me is our Annual 40 Hour Eucharist Devotions. This special time of Eucharistic Adoration and Devotions causes me to rejoice that the Lord is so very close to us. It is time to leave the loud chaotic world behind and spend a few moments of quiet Adoration before Jesus truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament. 40 Hour Devotions have a long history in the Archdiocese and our Parish. Saint John Neuman brought this devotion to Philadelphia in the 1840’s. Since that time almost every parish in the Archdiocese has continued this celebration.
This year we will celebrate our 40 Hour Devotions on October 1,2, and 3. Our preacher for the evenings will be Father Louis Monica. Fr. Monica grew up at Saint Timothy Parish in Northeast Philadelphia and attended Father Judge High School. After graduating high school Fr. Monica entered Saint Charles Seminary and was ordained a priest in 2020, the same time Fr. Cesar was ordained. Fr. Monica served as assistant priest at Saints Peter and Paul Parish in West Chester and is currently the School Minister at Archbishop Ryan High School in the Northeast and lives at Our Lady of Calvary.
The schedule for 40 Hours is:
Sunday, October 1 there will be Adoration between all the Masses and throughout the afternoon. At 5:00 pm we will pray Solemn Evening Prayer, reflection by Fr. Monica, and Benediction.
Monday, October 2 Adoration following 8:30 Mass. At 7:00 pm we will pray Solemn Evening Prayer, reflection by Fr. Monica, and Benediction.
Tuesday, October 3 Adoration following 8:30 Mass. At 7:00 pm we will pray Solemn Evening Prayer, reflection by Fr. Monica, and Benediction.
Peace,
Father Weber
