Congratulations and God’s blessing on your family. We are excited to welcome your child into our larger family. This is a very exciting time, and the staff and Baptism preparation team want to make this a memorable and spiritual experience for you and your family. We appreciate that this is an especially busy and demanding time. Queen of the Universe Parish has invested in a web-based platform, FORMED. On it, you will find a program called REBORN. You can access it, and all of the content on FORMED, using parish code Y4MJDZ (all caps). If you click on the link in the above sentence, you can bypass the password. The majority of your preparation for this sacrament will be self-directed, utilizing videos and corresponding study guides. Once you complete the online portion of your preparation, you are invited to join other parents and our preparation facilitation team for a faith sharing discussion. This will be a required session for parents. Godparents need not attend, but certainly are encouraged to attend if they wish. These sessions will be held monthly on the second Tuesday of every month at 7:00 PM in the Queen of Peace room in the Parish Center (directly in front of you when you pull into the church parking lot). You should plan on attending the month before the date of the Baptism (ex. If the Baptism is in August, plan on attending the second Tuesday in July.)
The primary portion of the REBORN program is sessions 1, 2 and 3. Make sure to print out/download the study guides and answer the group discussion questions and the reflection question on the following page. They will not only be essential to you being able to fully participate in the session, but the guides will be how we take attendance. There are additional videos, which are very helpful but won’t be discussed at our session. The fourth installation focuses on ways to build sharing the faith into your family’s experiences. The fifth video focuses primarily on the role of Godparents. It is a good resource for anyone looking for an understanding of the true role of the Godparent in the eyes of the Church; particularly Godparents and parents choosing Godparents. Baptisms are on the first and third Saturdays of the month at 12:00 pm. To schedule your child’s Baptism, or if you have any questions about the preparation program or how to log into the website, you may call or email the Faith Formation Director, Bobby Allen at 215-945-0215 or moc.l1524357610iamg@1524357610noita1524357610mrofu1524357610q1524357610
The Baptism of your child follows the completion of the on-line and faith sharing sessions for both parents. If you are unable to attend the session, the Baptism will be postponed until the online and in person sessions are completed. Parents are expected to consult the eligibility requirements and guidelines for someone having the gift and responsibility of being asked to be the Godmother or Godfather.
Please make arrangements for the care of your children during the Baptismal sessions. If assistance is needed please advise Joanne Joyce, the secretary, when scheduling your session.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING TO THE SESSION:
(1) ANSWERED QUESTION SHEETS FROM STUDY GUIDES 1,2 AND 3
(2) LETTERS OF ELIGIBILITY FOR THE GODPARENTS.
